Innovative Consulting Engineers & Engineering Geologists - Site Investigations

Why Investigate?

Your objectives may vary, for example you may need to establish the suitability of the site for a proposed project, site conditions and ground properties, potential ground difficulties and/or instabilities, ground data to permit design of structures.

Whatever your requirements, we offer a cost effective, pragmatic investigation service. Where necessary our in house experts in geotechnics, geology, mining, environmental science, hydrology, ground/structure interaction and geophysics can be readily integrated for the benefit of our clients.

Phase One investigation:

A desk top study – this fundamental pre-requisite includes a review of all available information, including the following: recent and historical maps, consultations with appropriate bodies (e.g. Environment Agency, Local Authorities), aerial photographs, archive material, records of any former land use, site walk over surveys. Where contamination is suspected, the investigation is carried out in accordance with BS 10175 : 2001 Investigation of potentially contaminated sites – Code of Practice.

Phase Two investigation:

An appropriate intrusive site investigation rationale, as relevant to the proposed construction site, is then decided on in accordance with BS 5930 : 1999 Code of practice for site investigations and any local guidelines.
