Innovative Consulting Engineers & Engineering Geologists - Construction, Design & Management Regulations

When carrying out notifiable projects, the client must appoint a CDM Coordinator in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM Regs).

A notifiable project is where the works:-
-Are for a commercial client (i.e. not a domestic client);
-Lasts more than 30 days; or
- Involves more than 500 person days

The CDM Regulations are complex. For
further guidance please contact us and we will be happy to advise you on your duties.

HOW WE SEE THE KEY DUTIES OF THE CDM COORDINATOR...

CDM is about managing, managing the flow of health and safety information between clients, designers and contractors ensuring all parties affected by the work have the relevant information needed to plan and carry out the works safely.

Our in house design teams are experienced in designing out risk and designing in safety features, and can assist with reviewing plans and drawings to ensure designers comply with their duties. Where necessary, procedures are written to manage any residual risk that cannot be designed out.

We encourage regular meetings and reviews between all parties to ensure :
  - a common approach to risk reduction
  - an awareness by all of the common issues,
  - identification of incompatibilities between designs at early stages

The HSE is notified using their F10 Notification of Construction Project Form

We provide contractors with a concise Pre Construction Information pack highlighting the risks and safety issues of the project.

Assist the Client in assessing designers’ and contractors’ competency.

We use a combination of documented questionnaires and industry experience to assess the competence of both designers and contractors.

We work with contractors and designers to ensure that critical information is collected throughout a project enabling timely submission to the Client of the Health and Safety File.
