John Grimes Partnership is a multidisciplinary engineering consultant specialising in Geotechnical, Civil and Structural engineering. Our office is located in the South Devon town of Ivybridge on the edge of Dartmoor some 15 minutes from Plymouth and 30 minutes from Exeter.
We are typically involved in a wide variety of engineering projects covering general domestic, luxury high spec homes, commercial, educational, healthcare building structures, simple traditional through to complex foundations and geo-structural interaction, retention structures, coastal defence and marine structures contamination, drainage and flood risk to name but a few.
We currently looking to employ a structural engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of building structures. The successful applicant will have experience of investigations, assessment, design and detailing building structures from small scale domestic/residential through to large scale commercial / industrial / educational buildings.
You will hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineer, be a confident, enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with good communication skills, hold a full driving license, be chartered or near chartered and have an excellent understanding of building structures.
You will have sound experience and a good knowledge of the design of all common building forms i.e. timber, steel, masonry and concrete using Eurocodes. You will be proficient in the use of design/detailing software such as AutoCAD, SCIA, Masterseries etc.
You will be responsible for producing detailed fee quotations, undertaking site visits and condition surveys, providing guidance to graduate engineers, controlling and recording your own time whilst managing and completing your own projects.

We are seeking a full-time Graduate Structural Engineer to join our award-winning Engineering Consultancy based in Ivybridge, Devon, to work on exciting and challenging Structural Engineering projects across the southwest region and beyond.
Candidates will be responsible for undertaking a range of structural engineering design and related works including the following.
