Transport Planning, Traffic Management & Highway Design

JGP provides top quality highways and engineering advice to Developers, Builders, Contractors and Local Authorities across a range of sectors, from the construction of a new development or the delivery of improvements on behalf of Local Authorities across their highway network. Our services cover initial concept proposal through to implementation stages.

Transport Planning

In order to obtain planning approval for all but the smallest developments proposals it is often necessary to undertake Transport Assessments or Transport Statements and Travel Plans, as set out the in the National Planning Policy Framework.

JGP are able to help developers and private clients to achieve development potential for their sites through our Transport Planning capability to demonstrate the transport implications of development proposals and identify any requirements for transport mitigation measures. Integral to a typical transport assessment is policy and technical work focusing on safety and capacity for all modes of travel.

We can provide technical expertise combined with an extensive knowledge of the planning system and local knowledge in order o achieve sustainable and accessible development together with the necessary approvals.

Highway Design

Planning approval is often accompanied by the requirement to provide improvement works to the local highway network to an adoptable standard. Using up to date design software, we prepare detailed highway construction drawings and designs on behalf of developers including S278 and S38 highway works. Analysis of vehicle access requirements, site drainage, SUDS and 3D ground modelling and profiling all help achieve the right solution for the project.

Traffic Management and Engineering

JGP are able to carry out a wide variety of highway engineering projects on behalf of public and private sector clients. This work can vary in scale and complexity and might range from feasibility studies to identifying improvements to local transport infrastructure, including:

  • highway capacity improvements;
  • providing preliminary highway or junction design and analysis;
  • undertaking vehicle tracking analysis;
  • on- street car parking reviews; and
  • Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and Stopping Up Orders.
