Structural Design of Residential Developments

New Builds - We offer cost-effective structural design of new residential builds, using both traditional and modern materials. We work closely with private-sector developers and architects, as well as with housing associations and local authorities to achieve the best commercial design.  JGP also has extensive experience in the structural engineering design of prestigious new builds.  We have a large and growing portfolio of luxury homes and work closely with a number of Architects.  We have designed numerous bespoke structures, some with large and open living spaces; or glazed elevations that offer minimal visible structure to impose the views.

House Alterations & Barn Conversions – JGP has extensive experience in the structural engineering design of house alterations and barn conversions, from relatively straightforward structural elements, such as safe removal of a wall; to more complex extensions and loft conversions.  Barn conversions can often comprise listed buildings, which require a sympathetic approach and can involve working alongside an Archaeologist or Conservation Officer to preserve and strengthen the building.  We believe that good structural design and detail requires knowledge of traditional construction techniques and how these may be retained and strengthened as necessary; or how modern methods can be sympathetically incorporated within the building.
